According to customs statistics, in the first 10 months of 2024, the total value of imports and exports through the Western Land Sea New Corridor in China was 1.15 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.8%, which was 3.6 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of China's foreign trade. The foreign trade of the Western Land Sea New Corridor continued to make efforts.
This year marks the fifth anniversary of the issuance of the Overall Plan for the Western Land Sea New Corridor. On November 12th, a press conference was held in Chongqing to further promote the construction of the Western Land Sea New Corridor with the support of customs in building an inland open comprehensive hub. This was learned by reporters from the scene.
On the basis of the 15 support measures introduced last year, the General Administration of Customs released a new round of 15 key support measures on the same day. Chen Zongwang, Deputy Director of the Comprehensive Business Department of the General Administration of Customs, introduced that the new measures mainly focus on four aspects: customs clearance convenience, support for openness, service industry, and cost reduction. Compared with last year, more emphasis is placed on the coordinated development of channels, the creation of regulatory models that are conducive to the development of new business models, and the replication and promotion of measures that benefit enterprises.
In recent years, thanks to a series of policy dividends, the construction of the Western Land Sea New Corridor has continued to improve in quality and efficiency. Data shows that currently, the Western Land Sea New Corridor has radiated to 542 ports in 125 countries and regions. Transport goods from industrial products such as automobiles and machinery to agricultural products such as fruits and meat, with over 1160 categories. There are 111 open ports and 48 comprehensive bonded zones along the channel. In the first 10 months of this year, the comprehensive bonded zones along the channel achieved an import and export volume of 155 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%.
In addition, the cross-border logistics of the Western Land Sea New Corridor is more smooth. According to customs statistics, in the first 10 months of this year, the customs supervised 6525 old trains and 1700 Vietnamese trains, an increase of 36.5% and 47% respectively year-on-year, and the overall operational efficiency of cross-border trains increased by more than 60%. During the same period, provinces (regions, cities) along the channel exported agricultural products worth 26.88 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.3%, with more advantageous and characteristic agricultural products entering the international market.
Xiang Qian, Deputy Director of the Port Logistics Office of Chongqing Municipal Government, stated at the meeting that implementing the new round of 15 key support measures is conducive to better promoting channel connectivity, reducing costs and increasing efficiency, better serving international economic and trade cooperation and industrial development, and creating more landmark reform and opening-up achievements.
