On August 27th, foreign media reported that Maria Shostak, deputy director of the Russian Food Quality Assessment Center, stated that according to a sampling survey of nearly 32 million tons of wheat this year, third class wheat accounted for 25% of Russia's total wheat production, which is 5 percentage points higher than the same period last year.
In addition, this year the proportion of fourth grade wheat is 51%, and the proportion of fifth grade wheat is 24%.
Shostak stated that the improvement in wheat quality this year is related to factors such as sufficient soil moisture.
Highly intelligent agriculture, agricultural technology measures, preparation, equipment, seeds and other factors also contribute to the improvement of wheat quality in Russia.
Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lute stated last week that the Russian Ministry of Agriculture will continue to maintain its grain production forecast for this year at 132 million tons, including 86 million tons of wheat. However, she stated that as the harvest approaches its end, the wheat yield forecast may be lowered.
As a reference, the US Department of Agriculture estimated in its August supply and demand report that Russia's wheat production this year would be 83 million tons, a decrease of 9.3% from the previous year's 91.5 million tons.
