According to the Russian Statistical Office (Sputnik) and Zerno According to Ru's data, as of August 1, 2024, the annual growth rate of inventory in grain and legume agricultural enterprises, including Russian corn, was 16.51%, reaching 28.99 million tons (24.88 million tons on August 1, 2023, and 17.02 million tons on July 1, 2024).
The following is the inventory data of grains and legumes as of August 1, 2024:
This data sets a new record for agricultural enterprise grain inventory in August, surpassing the record set in 2021.
The head of the Russian Grain Union, Akadi Zirochevsky, stated that Russia's grain exports this year may not be able to replicate last year's record high.
In 2023/24, Russia's grain exports exceeded 56 million tons, setting a new historical high and accounting for over a quarter of the global export volume of 220 million tons. We will not be able to maintain this scale this year, and the export volume will decrease.
In the first month of this year, Russia's grain exports were significantly lower than the same period last year. From July 1st to August 10th, the grain export volume of Russia in 2024/25 was 7.1 million tons, lower than the 9.8 million tons in the same period last year.
Zirochevsky stated that Russia will reduce the planting area of winter crops this year due to the increasing cost of crop cultivation. Although farmers will sow as much as possible, the downward trend is evident and cannot maintain last year's scale.
According to data from the Federal Statistical Office of Russia, the winter grain planting area in Russia last year was 17.49 million hectares, including 16.13 million hectares of wheat.
