Container transportation is an efficient and cost-effective mode of transportation with low safety risks, high loading and unloading efficiency, low labor costs, and minimal cargo damage and difference. It is conducive to the development of multimodal transportation by railways, waterways, and highways, and the construction of a modern comprehensive transportation system that integrates multiple transportation modes. It is of great significance for accelerating the development of China's logistics industry, reducing logistics costs for the whole society, and promoting the sustained and rapid development of the national economy.
The development of container road transportation in China has gone through stages such as initial establishment, promotion and development, consolidation and improvement since 1977. Container road transportation has made great progress. We have achieved results in technology, management, facilities, and policies. These achievements have played a significant role in solving technical difficulties in road container transportation, improving enterprise production efficiency and personnel quality, and providing scientific basis for the competent authorities to formulate technical and economic policies and development plans. Some achievements have been timely transformed into productivity.
Recently, at the first conference held in Vladivostok on the capacity of ports in the Primorsky Krai to transport grain goods, discussions were held on how to develop Far Eastern agricultural product export logistics under the current sanctions background, and solutions were proposed to address the issues of grain export warehousing and transportation in Far Eastern ports.

The meeting emphasized that only through containerized transportation can the export of grain from Far Eastern ports be increased.
This year, 150000 tons of grain were transported by container to ports in Primorsky Krai, compared to only 100000 tons in the same period of 2021, and there is room for further growth.
In addition, grain exported to China is not only transported through ports, but also by railway to Grodkovo (the name of the Russian port across the Suifen River). Since the beginning of 2024, the railway transportation volume here has exceeded 229000 tons, of which nearly 130000 tons are transported through containers.
The Primorsky Krai is currently extending the Grodekovo-2 and Sosnovaya Pad rail lines, which are expected to be completed next year. The transportation volume of railway special trains will increase from 3600 tons to 5200 tons, and the transfer capacity will also increase from 11.2 million tons to 17.7 million tons.
